Just an update. We are still doing chicken, but various parts, no organs yet. Poop had been perfect until the day before yesterday. Reesee is fine but my bf's 5 month old pup had a bout of diarrhea in his crate. It was more like a normal stool surrounded by liquid and there was a bit of mucus in there. It really smelled awful.
Since then he hasn't had a bowel movement yet. He's a very vocal boy but since then he's been groaning more than usual when he's laying around. Drinking his normal amount ( which is only a few laps here and there since switching ), eating fine and he seems alright when he's out and about.
Since then?
When was then? Are you saying he hasn't pooped for two days?
He hasn't pooped since the night before yesterday. It was in the evening when he had the odd stool. Bf says he -could- have pooped yesterday when he ran around the shed as he was getting his shoes on out on the deck but not since then and even if he did...normal for him is 2-3 times a day.
We slightly cut back on his rations since the diarrhea but I would think he would have something to squeeze out.
His toys are all in perfect condition..He has a hole-roller with a second one in it that's fine..Also has a jolly ball and some various other tough toys-all fine. No access to cloth or whatnot because he's watched constantly while tethered in the house because he tends to try to get into everything.
Unless it was something in the yard, but there's nothing but the occasional stick out there, otherwise clean. No garbage or anything. Felt all along his belly and it's not bloated and he doesn't seem to mind me prodding it.

Normal on raw or normal on kibble? Kibble produces a lot more poop.

Prior to this event, was he having dry hard poops?
I'd be watching him. You want to know when he does poop. If he went another day I'd call the vet. (If he starting acting lethargic or uncomfortable, I'd call the vet sooner.)
When switched to raw he would poop after each meal, so twice a day. On innova he went 3-4 times.
Bf said his poop was solid, but was..well..lubricated. He said sometimes when he would poop some drops of liquid would come out prior to the log.
He'll be watching carefully. Yeah..I told him to be real watchful of those signs but I was watching him in the yard tonight and he was playful and active. He seems to be sleeping more when in his crate though, usually he'll pace a bit and whine slightly...although bf says there are days he's more tired like this normally so he's not sure.

I'm curious if someone else is seeing the same effect with their dogs, as I do see that from time to time with my dogs (the drops before the log part...very poetic by the way )

Believe this is the hard poop naturally expressing the anal glands.
I could be wrong, though.
E.T.A. This is assuming all is normal after the drops. Not like Heather's case where soft stool followed.
Oops I forgot to update! He's doing better now. Having mostly solid stools with some mini bouts of pudding stool-like tonight he whined piteously to go out for quite a violent poop but it was odd because earlier the poop was normal.
Just another update. Reesee is still doing terrific. Bf's dog Bliz had been put back on just skinless necks for a week. His poop was back to normal with just a random pudding once or twice.
After the week we de-skinned a whole leg quarter and have been giving him those and necks for a meal. He's right back to fishy, runny and nasty poop. This is the third day of it. Managed to be able to catch the morning bouts by getting up to let him out super early but this morning that was even too late and he had a real nasty accident. He got a bath after that one..Couldn't be avoided.
A little unsure of what to do, since we tried it so carefully. The poop is absolutely awful and doesn't smell normal. It has a definite rotten fish smell to it. I guess the fish oil he eats makes it smell that way or something.
