Kelly,
I haven't read the linked pages between here and your last post yet, so if they may mention it, forgive me if I'm redundent.
My understanding about how Lymes is transmitted indeed is through the bite of an infected tick........After 48 (or is it 24?)(damn, head slap here I can't remember) hours from attachment. And that is where the Frontline comes in. I recall it being explained as such: the pesticide (make no mistake, it is a pesticide) in Frontline becomes embedded in the fatty tissue of the skin or hide. As the tick chews its way through to a blood supply, it also gets a lethal dose of poison within the 48 hour time frame it needs to start exchanging body fluids with the host. The disease is not transmitted until body fluids are exchanged, not as you suggest, upon a bite.
Any ways thats how Frontline works, kills the bugger before it can infect the host.
The first bite is the beginning of the last. (in theory)
Randy
Thanks for the clarification Randy It has been a long time since I have used Frontline... I was not aware that there was a time period of 24 (or 48) hours before your dog could become infected. That is good to know.
