What do you guys think? I was thinking of trying them with the harnesses when we head off backpacking tomorrow.
I would love to be able to use crates....when I buy a vehicle, I want one I can put crates in. Crates for 3 dogs though....that's going to be a hell of a car! I do like the dog trailers, someone where Neb and I use to go for FR had one and it was amazing.
Scott, I REALLY like what Jennifer linked to above, and it is on my list of purchases. I will be getting the custom one that includes a floor cover (Quinn insists on laying down there).
For now, to protect the leather from claw marks, I have a ½ inch thick foam yoga mat I got at Ross for $15, then cut to fit. I will also put a generic seat cover over the whole thing, but it never stays right because of my rear head rests, so it is usually just the yoga mat. If you take a look at the picture of the inside of my car, you will see why I am SO glad that is there. Note the FIVE MILLION claw marks in that thing!
Yeah, that's a really nice looking system. And it is the claw marks on leather I'm concerned with. Yoga mat, you say? That's an excellent idea. I already have something I can cover it up with for the time being. I can take my dogs in my car, now! Schnazzeh!

The cover I have is great! It's thick, so stops fur and wet dog butt, and all the seatbelts and stuff work with it.
No claws through at all. None of the cars I use have leather, but it covers totally and is really thick - too thick for pressure indents and obvs. for claws to actually go through.
Just to update on my climbing gear restraints - they work great! I am really pleased with how well they hold the dogs, they're the perfect length, they clip in well, and are well made (obviously, as they're made to hold people on mountains).
