Just caught my male pooping, it was perfect, nice and firm and I did give him pumpkin the last few times I fed him. My stray has perfect poop and my puppy is so-so and my female is diarrhea....I am putting female on rice and cooked chicken
I'll tell you what's really keeping me going is the quantity of the poop. It is so reduced! My male was taking dumps like a bear. HUGE, twice a day and when I would pick it up it would mash into the grass half the time. I want my son to be able to run on the same grass they poop in.....is that so wrong??????
The smaller amount of poop is because you dog is actually UTALIZING the food that you are feeding him as nurishment & not just having it travel through their body & out the other end with no benifit. Think of kibble as a waste of your $$$'S for all that grain, going in one end & out the other with minimal natural health benefit to your dog. That is why the kibble companies add alot of grains to their foods....it's cheap & filling. Most of the health benefit in kibble is from additives.
As far as you son playing in the area where your dogs potty...maybe you could train them to go in one area & keep your child out of that section.
Yes, I need to do that, I've been too lazy about it. Right now I pick up poop (or just check for poop) twice a day and once I find some I will spray the area with the hose in case any sticks to the grass. Not a disinfectant, I know, but it makes me feel better at least.
My female adult cleared up her diarrhea with rice and chicken, now that I put her back on chicken backs, (and I kept a little rice in it) she's back with pretty bad diarrhea!!!
I think I might put her back on kibble and try again in a few months.... It's really hard to keep up with every poop of 4 dogs. I feel like all I do is wait, hunt and examine crap!

Skin and fat off the chicken backs?
And how much food?
I would say to take a fecal to the vet, but having cleared it up on rice, I'm with Michael.
Michael, how about a dollar? I'll take "too much food per meal" and you take "too much fat/skin at first."
Vanessa, I would put her back on the overdone soupy rice and all-white chicken until you see perfect poop, and then gradually and slowly (and starting with half-size meals) switch her back.
