I ordered the HK Force and Keen for Lucy and Hambone.
I am not secure enough in my knowledge to feed either of them anymore without a qualified food base to help me.
On to the toppings. I want to cut the HK in half and put my own meat in it. I have little chickens (Game hens) and ground turkey I got on sale. beef on sale, etc. Chickens will mostly be backs and ribs for the kids for chewing pleasure (neither gulp their foods). Beef meat and buffalo and other games to offset the chicken and turkey in the HK.
Beef rib bones good for smaller dogs who are seniors? Under 40 lbs with good teeth?
Oh, and I do know to start slow for Miss Lucy. Been through that with Hambone. So far, with just bits of meat (a couple of T's of hamburger or chucks of beef meat, she does great! Poop is better than ever!) And, she still gets her kibble for now.

The package (in my grimy mitt right now) tells you 1/2 to 1 cup of RMB or meat (cooked or raw meat) to each cup of dry THK you use. (They are great on the phone and in emails, too.)
In that ratio, the meat can be a choice of RMBs and or straight meat.
In any larger proportion of additions, the additions must be calcium-phosphorous balanced in themselves, taking over as they would a large percentage of the diet.
