No, it is just me and sometimes my boyfriend. I feed in the livingroom. I dont mess with him while he eats. I do have 2 cats, that Quincey chases all the time or tries to. With that, what do I do? When he is tied to me and tries to chase the cats, do I stop what im doing and calmly and say no chasing and sit him down? When trading up, should I say anything or just trade up?
Now, about feeding a raw food diet with Quicey not beeing fully trained or accepting me as leader, is it ok to or should I first become a leeder first. My dog growls if he has high food value and is eating when coming too close to it. Maybe I should when feeding, put food down and leave him alone, so he has no chance to growl at me or the cats. Also, put cats in a different room when feeding. I should also feed him in a place where I wont walk by and there be a chance he growl. Also, if I were to go about feeding this way, at the same time do the pack leader structure training. How does this sound? Would this work?
Jennifer, you can start feeding raw while you are working on your pack leader issues, IMO.
Re feeding; you should be feeding him in an area (his crate?) where he feels secure and is not pestered by anyone or anything. You should be doing this regardless of what you are feeding him...
My friend feeds his dog dry kibble and raw meat. Would this upset a dogs stomage? I probably should try it out and see how Quincey reacts to it. I read in the article from Will Rambeau that he doesnt think vegetables or grains are important in a dogs diet.
I'm on board with Connie on this one. You;ve already discussed about the 'sensitive' stomach. I was a kibble feeder, switched to grainless, etc and my dog still had issues. Finally, a light switched on, re: the posted links that Connie showed you, and I realized kibble for my girl is what IS causing problems. She is now on THK, learning to eat raw meat, and maybe one day soft bones like the neck and back.
