BTW, it's not at all uncommon and many dogs recover very well. I actually know personally three (maybe four) who sprang back from PVS and are still alive and well.
I would give him Gatorade for electrolytes…any thoughts?
My vet has advised me to give gatorade over water before during a recovery process, their reason was electrolytes and sugar. But I haven't had a pet experience something like Theo is going through

Do they have any Ice Pups to turn into broth? Or even a piece of poultry to boil up and then blend some into the resulting liquid like a soupy consistency? Then a bit of salt added, and maybe a piece of banana (for potassium)?

I'd ask the vet first about Gatorade. I know that many vets do recommend it as a fluid replacement, but I've never done it because of the ingredients, which as I recall include sugar, table salt, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, and two or three more forms of sugar. Yuck.
I'm thinking that the electrolytes can maybe come from much better sources, but again, I'd ask the vet.
Meanwhile, the liquid from a can of canned vegetables, maybe half-and-half with body-temp water, would be a safe source of some of the micros lost in diarrhea and vomiting. JMO, though.
