We all know it is a horrible idea to take your dog to a leash-free dog park and keep it on a leash. I had to find this out the hard way ONCE with my GSD and it wasn't even really a bad situation, I could just tell she was uncomfortable so I never did it again.
And to Mr Ferguson's point about martial law: I doubt very much that a private citizen would have the guts/entitlement to open fire in a dog park. This guy knew that he'd get a reasonable amount of protection from the badge, so...
Haven't watch the vid, don't intend to.
I assume from reading the thread though a dog was shot for attacking another dog in a known free-for-all zone.....Great just great.
Martial law.
Dave you've obviously never been anywhere close to a martial law state. Don't throw crap around you know nothing about.

Based on what? It's under investigation. No person was hurt, I'm sure the weapon was legal, and his story was that he was attacked by an unleashed dog.

Sorry there Ross, but if my dog was actually attacked and in significant danger, I'd drop the attacking dog in a heart beat. And I'm a "private citizen".
I am armed everytime I walk my dog, no exceptions.
That being said, I think that "dog parks" are an incredibly stupid concept and I wouldn't be caught dead in one, ever.
Will, I think its the point of it being an off-leash dog park. Out in a public park or walking down the street, ok. Its like going to a baseball game and get hit by a foul ball. Its a chance you take. You can't just shoot the batter.
Steve, I've never been to one, but are battles between dogs tolerated? That seems to be the path to human injuries during the attempt to break them up......
