One of the problems today with the show breeders is they don't know any better. For the past 30+ yrs the SV dogs have been banana backed and the American dogs have been so angulated their nuts drag on the ground when they are stacked.
Now that these "dogs" are established they few that see the problems know they would be fighting the tide if they tried to do anything different.
I showed in the breed ring for 10-15 yrs (terriers not GSD) and saw the standards reinterpreted more then once because so and so won with such and such dog and the tide again changes again.
At least the SV GSD is required to have a working title (as much of a joke as they may be).
The American breeders, for the most part, can't even put that much effort into their dogs.
I've seen the GSD, Aussie, BC, JRT and more then a few other breeds that have been lost to the show ring.
Blame who you want but it's a segment of the breeders that fight for AKC recognition.
I've seen the judges pass over good dogs for the sake of who is at the other end of the leash.
Good or bad, it's all part of the game of dogs.
If the judges refuse to put these dogs (or handlers) up then they wont be asked to judge again. Simple fact!

Like I had said earlier....politics. It seems to stick it's ugly nose everywhere! It's rampant in the horse show world as well as the dog show world. If you are going to show, it just is a fact of life.
A few years ago the SV championship show was about 45 min from my home, so I decided to go. I was so upset at the sight of these dogs, that I couldn't even stay for the whole day to watch all the classes. These were the German showlines & not even the American GSD's that are far worse, as Bob described. It really is shameful what they have done to this wonderful breed.
I watched the video before I read the responses to it. I have no experience with GSD...working or show. I'm an average pet owner...that's all. But I noticed the change over the years and was going to post a question about it but thought I should read on so I didn't ask something that was already discussed. Then I watched the second video...which to me, unexperienced, was upsetting. Those dogs couldn't move properly!
My first real look at GSD was on this sight, and I have really enjoyed watching videos and seeing what these handsome dogs are capable of! I was very surprised at the difference between the dogs I've seen on here and what was on that video. I wouldn't have thought there'd been that kind of difference.
