Tonight I walked down to the grocery store and even here it was really picked over. I would say the bread and dairy sections were 3/4 of the way gone.
If I can tomorrow I will post pics of the snow pile in front of my house. It is seriously almost five feet high from stacking it up to keep the sidewalks clear over the past month.
Tasha thinks its a gift from God! I wont let her climb it now that its THAT high, Well, maybe I'll let her do it just once for the sake of a good picture
Well, the front yard is elevated about 3 feet off of the ground, so that means if she took a tumble it would be eight feet to the sidewalk.
When it was slightly smaller we did have fun marker training her to "hup!" up on top of it and then jump back off. With a snowball catch reward, of course.
Can you just imagine what would happen if supplies were interrupted for more than a few days?
I'm cranky if I miss lunch... not having food for a few days??? shudder....
Which could happen at any time with places like wally world going to just in time stocking practices. Our local one is often out of this or that. If their trucks got interrupted for a couple days, that store would be seriously empty.
But my folks basement is always full - they bought freezers and food storage shelves years ago so they could buy in bulk and freeze/can to save money.
The local stores here actually ordered extra trucks of all the basics, but it still wasn't enough when people are panic shopping. I saw people buying 6 and more gallons of milk and that many loaves of bread, families buying multiple carts full of food. Seriously, it is a snow storm, not armageddon!
less than 24 hours later and we were able to go to convenience store, and those who didn't want to drive were easily able to walk the few blocks to the stores
