AKA Fox news, this happened a week or so ago but we were waiting for DNA verification to announce it.
As far as Pakistan being cool with it;
This was not in caves in the mountains it was in a town that had a military station in it.
How did they NOT know he was there???
Bob, without a doubt Pakistan knew he was there. I'm sure they were hiding him all this time. The only way it could be more obvious is if he was actually on the military base.
When I said Pakistan was cool with it, I meant that it appears at this point of time there will be no military action taken in retaliation. The US definitely didn't have permission from the Pakistani government to carry this out.
IMO, the US didn't need permission to do this. But less war is good.
I wonder if we will get to hear from the Seals that masterfully accomplished their mission?
Do you think we will ever get to hear the details or is that kind of thing top secret?
I hope so, and I hope they get the highest commendations for their heroic accomplishment!
Congrats USA . I am honestly happy for your achievement. I was in the US during september 11th and it was horrific.
I am not saying this as an Indian, but as a human citizen of this world. Pakistanis are the mass producers and enablers of world terrorism. They use terror as an instrument of their state policy.
India has been suffering at their hands for the past 60 years. They commit atrocities in India under the name of Islam. India not being a super power like the USA has to put up with it. And the Chinese and the Saudis pay pakistan money to produce terrorists to use against their enemies. This is no conspiracy theory.
I feel really upset when the US state department talks about India in the same plane as they do about pakistan. Indians take US call center jobs. Pakistan takes US lives. we are not the same.
Great job USA for getting Bin laden, and that too 1 Km from three huge paki army garrisons.
Joyce, the people who should not be forgotten are the intelligence analysts. They were just as important in putting together a plan over data collected over 3 years.

Gunshot to the head, eh?
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Can't wait to see what Branch, Division, Battalion and Company is about to go down in history as the heroes who brought down the most wanted man alive.
Me too. Every person involved, from every desk jockey all the way to whoever fired that shot.
Thank you for that reminder about the intelligence gatherers and analysts, Ramachandran .

Apparently this military post was the Pakistani equivalent of West Point...not just a little outpost.
Yes Abbottabad is just outside Islamabad. It is a suburb of Islamabad. It is the nerve center of all their military top brass, including the ISI. Think of it as a few blocks away from the pentagon.
PS: ISI is the paki version of CIA. Very very high probability that ISI was protecting their "asset".

Wow. Not surprising at all about Pakistan. But a huge Kudos to the ones who planned and pulled this off.
I can't wait to read the book that is about to be written.
