Koenig is awesome. Just go out there and have fun. Thanks for posting the video. I enjoy every koenig video. He is "ONE FOCUSED DOGGIE". Love the way he locks on to you in the sit in motion.
He is happy to work and that is such a beautiful thing. Give him lots of kisses.
I absolutely love your sit and down out of motion.....that is not an easy behaviour to teach, and his is very quick and happy. You'll do great!
Wanna know something REALLY funny?
Earlier this week, I asked for a sit out of motion. I got a stand. (I have not trained that yet....) I asked for a down in motion, and I got the slowest sit, E V E R. He's on and off with the out of motion exercises. They are either a) AWESOME, and I'm thrilled with my dog. b) TERRIBLE, and I want to run and cry, hiding in a corner.....There seems to be no middle ground with this guy. lol. I'm glad I got these 2 on video. I sent them to my TD to prove that he DOES know them, and well, w/o me giving hints, and checking on him. Sometimes. When he wants to. lol.
We've still got some work to do.
Thank you, everyone for all the compliments.
Krisitin- the difference in my flippy about turn, and a regular left turn- it's footwork. (which I'm terrible at) You also can give a 'hint' with your head, turning your head to look left just ever so slightly before you turn left (another tiny detail I'm terrible at). When he gets up in drive (while we're heeling in protection, or if I've got a toy/tug out with me) we do occasionally get some really funky turns. I'll go for a regular left turn, and he'll sail around my back.... it can get comical. Most training with a Dutch Shepherd is either very comical, or very frustrating though.
I'll stick with the Koenig is psychic. Yeah. Thats it. Ya know, Brindles will take over the world one day. He told me so.

Edit reason: About turns
Relax. Ha. I'll TRY!!!!!!!
We've not practiced the 'official' traffic portion of the BH, but I'm fairly confident Koenig will be fine. He's fairly neutral to other dogs, and bikes/bars/wheelchairs/crazy people don't bother him. I am going to ask about setting something up today though. Off to training right now!
Both times I did the BH, I spent more time on the group stuff then the actual ob routine. At every trial I've watched the dogs seem to have more problems with doing something in large groups of people with no exact structure or routine.
The judge has a lot of discretion to see what he wants to see within the rules, so I just tried my best to make sure the trial wouldnt be the first time my dog had ever seen something.
There should be no problem for the OB portion of the BH.
Protection portion of the BH is more challenging, of course. As we all know.
You all sure know a lot more than anyone else then! Maybe you even know about the temperament test portion (which incidentally is not part of the OB portion)
