Tug, Orbee, rope... that part doesn't matter. Going to try a bite pillow soon.
I think I can get her on a sleeve eventually, but don't want to work the sleeve myself. My plan (tentatively) is to do more work on the fence, adding in some frustration to build her drive. Once I can get her to play at the club when I want, I plan to hand off to the helper while she's amped, so that he can build a relationship with her. Once she'll play with the helper, I'll try to transfer her to a sleeve.
We may eventually get her to bite. I just wish it was high enough value to train OB with.
She is tugging much better at home now, so I've been adding in a tiny amount of OB, and rewarding with the tug. It just kills me that the tug won't bring out the drive just by showing it.

My only thought, FWIW, on you plan is to not change what you are using now to play tug until you get her to play with you every time that you want her to play. Once that is solid & she will play EVERY time/ multiply times each visit to the club...then I would change to the pillow. Like any other training...you don't want to change more then one thing at a time.
Good luck & stay with it & stay patient.

I've been doing a lot of drive building with her this week, and it's paying off. She is a lot less site specific (five new locations since last Sunday) and is engaging more on my terms. I have to be very dynamic, but I have gotten her to play a few times when she didn't initially seem interested. Restraining her and ignoring her for periods seem to be helping.
Distractions are still an issue, but I have managed to desensitize her some.
From another thread on Friday;
"We then played tug 50-75 ft from the tractor and two workers. I got a refusal at first, but I made my presentation more dynamic, gave her a miss, and BAM, she engaged. She got more intense as we played, so I did too, lifting her off the ground and growling at her (she loves that). One little issue; she anticipated the last out. I'll have to remember to not always sit her before the out."

I taught myself something new today, while trying to engage Sadie in some play.
We had gone to a tracking field near a busy shopping center. After tracking, I broke out the Orbee. I made some very dynamic presentations. She would start to pursue, but stop short of grabbing it. She wanted to check out traffic and critter.
I have been rewarding the out by marking and giving a bite, so I gave her a "come", which is a front (she is required to front even on long distance recalls). I marked and she bit. She was not as intense as I would like, and her grip was not there, so I ended it quickly, but I now have something else to build on in engaging her to play on my terms.
FWIW, her dumbbell work with the same distractions was good but not great.

From another thread;
"We spent the rest of the evening playing tug on the field. She has really come a long way! She tugged every time I asked her. There were a ton of distractions, and she checked out a couple of times, but reengaged with minimal effort from me. I handed off the tug to TD and another helper while she was engaged, and she played with them. I also introduced her to a burlap sack, and she got the idea immediately."

Sounds like she's starting to come along. Be sure not to introduce high level distractions to quickly. She seems to be having just a small problem with the ones she's now seeing.
