I have a 2 year old male Doberman, He has always been very protective with me. He has never been trained for bite work only a little of obedience,
I have Just started bite work with him, He Bites the sleave ok and when I run with him he lets go on command.
BUT if he does bite work while doing obedience, and when calling him back to my side and he does not get a bite, he wants to bite me, And he has done twice now.( no tears or punchers only a bruses)
What do I need to do when he does this?. I have been told by a few people he has the traits of a man stopper, or a dog that will have no hasitation to bite and with out reason. He has always been a great protection dog without training, He loves my family and kids. He is like he is hypo all the time when he gets on the leash or in the Patrol Ute(car).
If some one come to close to me or the car while driving he goes off at them. I can't control him when he goes off at some one he does not listen to me, I am starting him off on a Prong Collar.
Anyone got some Info I can use.
NO BITE WORK, lots of groundwork (especially NILF)and obedience. I would also do lots and lots of work on impulse-control.

This is not a dog that I would ever encourage to put his teeth on anybody for any reason.
Sounds like a good dog to me. If you are training with a club then the training director can show you how to teach control in the presence of a helper, called obedience for bites. Have you done pole work and hold and bark training already? Once you start field work the progression is quick but need to make sure the dog understands each part before progressing to the next exercise.
The best advice on bite work is from an accomplished trainer that is there with you and the dog. It is easy to misunderstand the written words on a forum and without seeing the dog almost impossible to access the situation accurately.
