I just refilled our Apoquel prescription with our derm vet this morning. So, apparently, some practices have it--either stockpiled or they are on the super-secret list. I don't know. I did see on the British VioVet site that they (Britain) are now out of stock and unable to get any more until 2015. It's one of the worst product roll-out disasters I've ever encountered. Which is a shame. Because it's also one of the most life-changing products I've ever encountered.

Sorry Lee! Didn't realize when you said you checked VioVet that that is the british place! I need to pay more attention! We're having our kitchen remodeled and I'm not in my right mind!
Tracy, our derma vet never ran out because they were able to stockpile a bunch of it. But they have not started any new dogs on it - only the initial set of dogs before the backorder can get it. My regular vet wants her dog to be on it, but even she can't get it! She's very jealous that Kasey has it!
Update: My friend was able to obtain some Apoquel from her vet. Her GSD's itching stopped. They had tried so many things before this. Thanks everyone for the information, they were very happy!
Another update: It seems like Apoquel is nearly impossible to find now. My friend ran out and her GSD is now licking his paws again to the point he developed an infection and had to go back on antibiotics.
Has anyone found a reliable source for Apoquel? I've told her that her best best is probably to call around to derm vets to ask if they have any left. I have tried searching many of the online pet meds sites and have come up empty.
I see they are predicting an end to the shortage sometime between January and April of next year.

My derm vet has had no trouble refilling our prescription. I don't know if they've gotten enough to start new patients, or just keep existing patients on the med. I also don't have any idea whether derm vets will ship meds to patients they haven't seen, but I'm willing to share the name and phone number of the practice here in St. Louis (via PM).
I sympathize with your friend. There was a short period when we were out of Apoquel, and Cinco quickly reverted to being itchy. Which is so frustrating after seeing the miracle results when he was/is on the drug.
Thank you Tracy! I'll let her know and see what she wants to do. Maybe she can get in to see a derm vet who can get a shipment from your derm vet... I'll let ya know!

I was at my derma vet picking our refill last week and they said the company who makes this drug announced they will continue to be on backorder until next fall. Many vets are really angry with them because they advertise, and continue to have seminars about the drug, only to tell them at the end, that it's on backorder and they can't get it.
My vet only has enough for dogs that started using it when it first came out. Even the company who makes it said no new dogs can start it. So I doubt any vet would give their stash to a non-patient of theirs.
