The only thing that has surprised me with my GSD is how about 90% of kids under 10 that meet her assume that she is a police dog. It's usually the first question out of their mouths or they just automatically assume it and call her that.

I knew someone with what appeared to be a pure bred rough collie who he swore was a dingo. At least if it had been a smooth.
I've had two people a few years apart who were adopted dogs which were obviously smooth collies. Each were told by their vets what the dog was. One was a german shepard, not even German Shepherd Dog; the other was an English retriever. I'd never heard of that breed before. Both were tricolors with typical collie white markings.
HAHA!!!! People can be so stupid! I've got too many stories to even try to pick one.
Hey Kristel, sorry for derailing this thread, but I had to ask you. How have you kept you dobe's brain from outgrowing it's skull and making him vicious?

It will be another year or two before I have to worry about that. It only happens when they turn five
