I've seen pictures of some of the original stock used to create the breed and there were a few brindles. Yes, a brindle GSD would be one cool lookin' dog.

The 1st time I ever saw a Dutch Shepherd I had no idea what it was!!! It was a brindle and it was very small and interesting, had I not know that it was a Dutch Shepherd before seeing it, I would have thought it was a mixed breed! ...Live and Learn!!!
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
A-sable
Don't have a sable GSD - but I got a sable!
If ya squint (and ignore the blue eyes) you could pretend it is a GSD though.....
(girl can dream can't she?)

Hello All:
Very interesting line of questioning. In case it matters, here is my preference: sable, sable and sable, the darker the better (especially the black sables with the dark red or brown undercoat).
Whenever in the future I get a GSD it will be...
A (sable), or
D (black)
I'm partial to black because my current dog is black. I like the look, itimidating but classy. However, I haven't yet met a black dog that does well in the heat and it's sooooo hard to take a good photograph of a black dog.
I must say though that the sables are really gorgeous and it would be very hard to decide.
Of course temperament and personality are my first priority.
