Yes, the video was on the KNPV forum. I loved the third part where the dog jumped through 2 open windows. I read that it is a 40 kg dog and that's a lot of dog for such a jump.

is that Leeuwen's monster?
brrrr
Maybe one day dog from those lines
I had the option to get a dog from them, but their next breeding is supposed to be a scary one so they advised me against it... maybe one day Ofcourse, saying stuff like that just makes me more determined to want a dog like that, but then common sense kicked in
anyway, i'm sure you'll love your dutchie mike. is this the first non-GSD you have that will be doing protection work?
Yep! I believe it was Andres Martin who told me he can't wait to see what kinda posts I'll be posting on the forum while she's putting me thru puppy hell I can't wait!

Wow! I'm impressed. That's really dumb training! If that's a police dog...can you imagine what that dog will do when there's a suspect behind a car...AND ONE OF THE WINDOWS IS CLOSED? Or if the pathway in the car is not "clean"?
My first thought was, "There´s a handler giving himself an ego boost through his dog."
I'll admit that the handler can choose when to let the dog go, but conditioning a dog to go through TWO CAR windows?
From a tactical perspective, I can see the value of sending a dog through one CAR window...not two. Certainly not at that speed.
If a demo of power, fearlessness and agility was the intent of that video...that was certainly accomplished. The dog is beautiful...simply beautiful.

oh come on Andres...
that was exactly purpose of that demo, just like that french video clip that circles on net...
And yes, that is police dog - he got his ppd certification _before_ his knpv titles.
Big pooch and from verrry tight breeding.
Anyway Mike - i am shure that was good advice that you got from them.

I don't know if they exagerate a little or their dogs really are as crazy as they make them out to be. I've talked to some people in the US with dogs from Van Leeuwen who say they are good family dogs etc, but supposedly the breeding I would have gotten a puppy from was out of a father/daughter combination they were using to set the bloodline before outcrossing, if I remember correctly. The dogs they anticipated from this litter would be kennel dogs, can't live in the house, will never accept strangers into your house, very dominant, not for the inexperienced handler etc etc etc.... I've never seen a Leeuwen dog in person, and there's alotta people who disagree with that description based on dogs they have out of past litters, but being my first dutchie, I'd rather play it safe n get a dog that can do what I want her to do that will drive me a little crazy, than get a dog that's potentially way more than I bargained for and will turn into a big liability that eats everything within 6ft of her Everyone tells me I made a great choice with the litter I'm getting a dog from, I guess I'll find out soon

Un momentito, Ivan...
In the French video the dog GOES OVER THE CAR. Those people put some thought into what they wanted to put into their dog's little pea brain...
In that same (French) scenario, the beautiful dutchie in the video on THIS thread, would look more like pizza on the first window.

Yea, but, Spike goes THROUGH the car
Now which one has greater 'wow' factor?

I suppose it was meant as a demo. I'm not sure if they would send a dog to a man with a gun and when I see the handler walk calmly towards the car where the dog is taking care of the suspect it doesn't look like serious training.

it doesn't look like serious training.
Anything a dog does that gets well rewarded IS TRAINING (CONDITIONING). To the dog...there is no difference between serious or fun training. His result was a potent reward.
The dog thinks, "Cool! If I see a suit on the other side of a car, and I get sent from afar, I'll get a really good bite if I go through the car. Thanks handler. I understand clearly."
I would not want my dog to consider going through a car THE WAY TO A BAD GUY on the other side of a car.
Hey Ivan...if you're talking wow factor...there's no question: I like to see a dog go over the car.
But I'll admit...if I see a dog splatter against a car window, while running at 40 kph, I´ll yell, "Wow!" for sure, and a whole bunch more expletives (bad words) to the idiot that trained the dog to go through a car at 40 kph.
