It's been miles and years since I have logged onto this board; something must have been telling me to do so.
I am so sorry to hear about Fama. Like the rest I loved hearing your stories of her. In fact Im quite sure I cut and pasted to keep in a separate file because they were worth a second, third and fifth read.
I know the memories will never be enough, but I hope you remember all the good things Fama and look back with the greatest of experiences and just smile through your tears.
Thank you Tanya.
It's getting easier to think of the great times we had every day. I'm starting to enjoy talking about her again instead of feeling overwhelming grief at the loss of my friend.
I joined a Facebook group of folks who breed miniature heelers, and as you can imagine, lots of "normal" folks, who have never had a working pup, are having a helluva time with their newly acquired little monsters.
I've referred them to Leerburg.
I've talked about Fama a bit on that page, was just thinking of stories that had
been posted.
I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing.
Thank you Betty.
It is amazing the difference between a watered down pet dog and a dog purpose built to do work and love it. A friend of mine just got a working line Aussie pup that is a handful of fun. It should be interesting how their relationship forms over the next 6 months. I may end up with an Aussie
A powerful image for a powerful dog.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
You are welcome!
It was a terribly difficult thing to lay my friend to rest. I decided that the best way to honor her was to do it myself. I owed it to her to do that hardest thing in her honor. I believe that the both of us started a meaningful part of our lives when we met. It was only fitting that we closed that chapter of our lives in an intimate setting. I dug the hole and returned her to the earth myself. I don't think anyone could have cared more.
The only words I could find were, "Thank you my friend."

Such a horribly heartbreaking task, David, but I'm with you 100% in considering it utterly unthinkable to have anyone else perform that Honor Guard Duty for them in our stead...
At the risk of being inappropriately late with this, let me say how sorry I am to read about your loss, David. Not sure, after all this time being away, that I decided to check in here but I'm glad I did. Like a lot of other folks on this forum, I hung on your every word about the adventures of you and Fama. It was a heck of a story and I'm glad he ended up with you for the remainder of his life. I'm just sorry for the pain you had to go through in seeing him through to the end but I'm sure Fama was thankful you were there. Wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Best wishes to you and I hope you get to cherish his memory and know you did well by him.
