I was walking my dogs the other day and this woman with a bunch of toddlers spotted me and said, "Look! Doggies!" Suddenly all three of the kids started running towards me! Talk about careless parenting...luckily I can pick up my child-fearing manchester and my vizsla mix loves kids. This is in complete contrast to my boyfriend's neighbourhood where parents pick up their kids and run away when they see dogs coming. I wish I lived there! <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I've never had owners of other dogs come up to me with doggy play time offers...although I'll admit I used to be one of them...until a mastiff nearly swallowed the manchester a couple years ago. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> I've learned my lesson, I promise!

Here is one that I could not contain myself with,
I was training and had to stop by the mall to go the the sporting goods store for "dog stuff", as I was putting my bags in the vehicle a lady walks by and sees my Bloodhound and my Malinois and first asks me what a K-9 is (due to the lettering on my vehicle) and then proceeds from there to tell me how she thinks it is weird the dogs look so different "being the same breed and all"..... <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
After explaining the difference she then said, "Oh, a bloodhound, I could have swore it was a bassett" <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
No fooling, this was all the same person. My poor 110 pound hound was mistaken for a bassett. Needless to say she did not appreciate me laughing by the end of our conversation....

				I forgot to add, since they are both colored the same (red w/black masks) that is why she thought they were related or the same breed....... <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Don't forget the ears...... you know how much alike Mal and hound ears are!

Many many similarities, now that I think about it............. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yes, I agree. Having these two has shown me that there really are not that many differences between them..... <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> JUST KIDDING
They are actually like night and day.
I will say that it was an experience to talk with her and I was amazed that many off the wall thoughts and questions were asked by the same person. I would have never imagined that someone would/could mistake these two breeds.

My best calling the vet receptionist they rotate them, she says what breed, I said 3 gsds for jabs ok, have you fed them? I say what? She says every bite that has happened to our vet was a German shepherd. Right ok then, I say but mine are really well socialised great with people, she has seen them before, she says NO NO, we are still going to muzzle them, WHATEVER, I arrive, she says, bring one in at a time please, oh hang on everyone clears the waiting room yup all other dogs and owners {sic} stuck up against the furtherest wall, and I take in my 9 yr
old virtually toothless killer GSD in <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
