Hi jennifer! Thanks!Love your photos....
Anyway , on this topic I think it's sad to see a 7 months old being trained that way, the dog is not having any fun...not a good trainer if you ask me.
Hi I'm the guy who actually shot the video. Just wondering what anyone is expecting from a seven month old pup? Hate to bring any of you to a child's karate demo!
Here's a video of some older dogs. All pets, neutered, one from pet store, one a rescue. All trained by their owner under my supervision. Its not easy, these dogs won't win a national championship in any dog sport no matter who's training them, but makes you wonder why hobbists and amateurs have such a desire to find only negative in a dog that is obviously moving along well in their training.
Feel free to share your negative comments, since I guess that's what people do here that don't really understand what they are looking at. Then please share a video of your killer 7 month old dogs taking on real bad guys...like you are expecting the pup in my video to do. Oh, I forgot, most haven't trained for anything but sport in this thread.
Come visit my club if you want to understand why i train the dogs in control first when they are going to be relied on in real situations without becoming a lawsuit waiting to happen. I pay cash to those willing to test a dog on a real bite.
keep an open mind when training doesn't look exactly like how you would do it.
I don't know much about PP, except I was taught the same thing at Nat K9, that you need to have control over the dog before teaching it bitework. But you guys say it diminishes the drive. I did not like the fact that the baby was in the middle of the room. Thinking he did that though to show his control over the dog. For a 7 month old puppy,I thought the OB was great regarding the distractions. I did notice too that the dog outed on the attackers response and not the handlers out, which I did not care for. I also noted the trainer attended the Tom Rose School for Dog Training which everyone on this forum recommends.Interesting....
