Generally here the not vaccinating thing here comes up when as Yuko mentioned when your dog bites someone or animal control is called out to your house for any reason such as noise violations, you have too many dogs, you have puppies, or a kennel license which authorizes local animal control full access to your kennel for inspection.
Even then it's not them asking for a vaccine record. It's them asking for your dog license which requires a rabies vaccine to get. If you're caught without the dog license here it's a $50 fine for the first occurance.
I found my local animal laws by searching the county website.
Thanks. That helps. I really do not want to gibe it to him. I live on an army post so I only have to reg him on here, not in town. And for there reg you just have to get a chip.
They also have a VERY long list of vac's that you must get, but I just tell them that I am using a vet off post and he's taking car of it and then thay just say ok. And like ya'll said, it's not like they come to your door asking for req. I was just wondering if the reb one was harsher. but I'm still looking in to it, but unless it's bad I'm not going to do it till he's much older (he's 15 weeks).

Ok, i went to the vet this morning cause I had to reg my pup on post. I have had problems with this vet before with my other pup (i'm sure some of ya'll remember that. Thay tald me I could ot reg him without giving him a parvo/dis-temp booster. And thay gave me lot's of crap about him dieing from it and all that, so I told them that I will do it at my vet off post (I'm not but they have to think I am) and so I did not let tham do it. And than they said that I must get the rabies vac to day befor I reg him. So we bitched aabout it for a few and than a military vet walked (that WAY out ranks my hubby) and said that if I don't reg my pup and some one finds out that my hubby could loos his position at work and that he will be checking my file to see if I get him reg, I'm not sure if he would have really turned me in or not but what would happon would be to bad to take that risk. So long story short, pup got rabies shot to save hubby. Can some one walk me throu what it looks like if my pup handles this baddly. I'm so mad I had to do this, but I really felt I had no choice. I'm freaking out about this and I don't know what to look for.
I think rabies shots are required by law in most places. At least it is where I live. So yes, they can definitely hold it over your head.
However, as far as I know, rabies is the ONLY required vaccine.
If he just got the one shot (and not multiple vaccines at once), and he is a strong healthy puppy, he will probably be just fine. Hopefully you got the 3-year vaccine, so they can't say anything to you for 3 years now!
My puppy got all his required vaccines. My rescue fosters get a 5-in-one and also rabies (usually at the same time) and usually also have surgery (neuter). This is right after they have been in a shelter (high stress). And THEN they are transported to my home (new environment). As hard as this is on their systems and stressful, I have not had any problems. Not saying it couldn't happen, but my dogs have been OK. I try and keep them in a quiet peaceful environment and give them a safe covered crate to lay in to help ease their stress when they first get here.
I am sure your healthy, well cared for puppy will be OK, but maybe keep an eye out for odd behaviour (acting sick, tired, vomitting, etc). Don't freak out, he'll be OK.
OK, he is not himself. He's acting like he is lightly druged or something. he has been sleeping sense we got home and that is so not him. He's moving slow and sleepy and a little stiff. What dose this mean?
Kori, I'm so glad you started this thread. I'm new to the idea of vaccinosis as well (the way I found leerburg is searching for articles on the subject). After reading Ed's article as well as MANY other vet's opinions I say no more vaccines. I've been told by my vet it is REQUIRED by both my county and city that dogs be vaccinated for rabies every three years. So I looked it up.

No more rabies vac for Kota. I remember his last bordatella vaccine early this summer and he didn't have the same enthusiasm for days. He didn't eat properly, or enjoy walks which are normally the highlights of the day.
My point, look up the law to make SURE it is a law, as TWO vets have told me this, and it's not true!!
