Jennifer,
Have you read this article?
http://leerburg.com/bark.htm
It starts out teaching the dog to bark at the door, what you want is a little further down.

My problem with videos is I can watch them, but I need someone to watch ME
Indeed. It's the same for pretty much everything that you DIY (do it yourself). With drumming, for example, you can teach yourself to rock out but the improper grip you might develop will lead to CTS or tendinitis in a few years...possibly bad enough to require surgery. A good teacher can easily spot the mistakes and correct them for you before they become a problem.

Jennifer,
As a disclaimer I want to say I've never met or seen Teagan in life....but from what I think I know of Teagan......inless you're willing to go all the way with this pp protection thing, I would not even think about starting Teagan on that path.
You already have your hands full with her, what are you going to do when you start giving her even MORE a sense of territorial authority?
Just a thought.

It is something I'm wondering - is this totally inappropriate given how she is?
B/c I can see her being good at this, and I would like the extra safety, but I've worked so hard and I don't want to undo that.
I was thinking if I left it as an alert bark and worked on the barking outside of her existing aggression....but I see what you're saying.
Hmmmm.

Imho, I only think it's inapproriate if you don't commit to the task.
Teagan, as you well know, does not go half measures.
I could be wrong.

We're having fun doing this in prey drive per some advice from Will and the posted LB article. After five sessions we've progressed from a whine to a yip and from me running 15 yards away to just a few steps. I'm looking forward to hearing his "big dog" voice come out. Will says that it's rare for a pup to have a deep and menacing bark. I'm going to try to get some video in about a week, after there's something to show.
This method may work for you, Jennifer. Maybe Teagan can learn the game and to associate what you want away from killing small creatures? Just a newbie thought.

Teagan's not just interested in small creatures
Are you acting as the decoy when you do it with Duke?

Is she that aggressive towards humans, too?
Yeah, since I'm not doing it in defense it's just a fun new game for us.
