... For right now though, in the beginning of this switch, all you need to think about is chicken necks and backs ...
when do i then add vegg?how much should i get up to?
Other than that:
Can i provide fruit from time to time?we used to give my collie Bananas every morning for some energy..
And when should i start adding eggs? And some tripe? is all of this after he digests the 2kg of solely meat? Or should i insert it bit by bit as i up the bone-meat intake?
I suppose bread, pasta, rice is out of the question? Dogs dont really digest carbs?
Michel, how is the poop now?
You should not add anything to the diet until you see log poops on the chicken backs and fish oil.
There have been a couple of posts asking how the poops are, but I saw only the reply about bits of bone.
The raw diet for this dog really really needs to be one thing at a time, not added until you see perfect poop from the last item, and each one added gradually (not the size of the addition of ground beef we saw a page back when his poops softened up. )
What to do next completely depends on how his poops are now.
"I suppose bread, pasta, rice is out of the question? " Yes.
So is fruit for now, with this dog's gut.
If you add one item at a time as suggested here, waiting for a perfect poop before adding each one and introducing each one in small amounts, you won't re-inflame thig guy's gut.
I promise that within a couple of weeks, you will be giving him a complete varied Leerburg diet.

Wonderful! My next step would be to start including some of the chicken skin/fat from the backs and some unsweetened plain live-culture yogurt (not both at once -- first one of those, then the other, watching poop in between).
Is he getting fish oil and E?
Then a bit later I'd be planning on organ meat (small, 5% of the diet eventually, but starting very small, particularly with this dog).
Then mooshed-up produce, maybe with an egg in it (again, starting with a small amount), or, even better, green (not human-consumption) tripe, still starting small with this dog.
The variety from fish (canned or not), other meats, a bit of fruit, etc., can all wait until these things are successfully incorporated.

Oops! Just caught "or round."
Do you mean round like marbles? Hard?

Ok now it s weird. Poop alternates from logs to round hard ones to mush with some bones in them.. M a bit confused abt what to do.
Another thing at night karly gets really hungry and begs for mopre than the 400g i give him. I end up adding some skinned necks-backs (100 -200g). Suggestions?

When? Today was the first mushy one? Prior to today, two perfect days?

Are you keeping a poop journal? If not, you will be glad you did -- I'd start now.
"Another thing at night karly gets really hungry and begs for mopre than the 400g i give him. I end up adding some skinned necks-backs (100 -200g). Suggestions?"
Just what I would do, but in a separate small meal a couple of hours later. Overfeeding in one meal is a diarrhea trigger, and you need to do nothing that will trigger diarrhea with this dog, or you won't know if he has a recurring parasite, etc.
And I would not make more additions (different ingredients) now since you don't have good regular poops yet after all.
Is he getting fish oil and E?

ok what we have for the past 2 days on 1000g necks backs/ 300g meat:
yesterday: 1) logs and some round hard stool 2) some mushy logs with bone 3) mushy logs with bone
today:
1) logs and round stool 2) logs and round stool.
m gonna take it back from the start. here s the new program and m not gonna add ANYTHING till ALL poop is good:
1. 800g bone / 300g meat for 2 days
2. 900g bone / 300g meat for 3.
then plan is to add 100gs every 4days alternating between rmbs and meat. keeping 20-25% meat ratio.
fat and plain yogurt will start being added after stage 2.
he ll still be on salmon and E.
then green will be added at stage 4 and so on.
Connie, what is "mooshed up produce"?
