I get so steamed when I see the ads (fund-raisers) on television showing all the BIG INITIALS ON THE JACKETS "rescuing" animals, and the money pours in, next to NONE of which will be spent the way the people giving it think it will.
This is just wonderful and she is freakin adorable and looks so happy in her new home.
Becky I hate those commercials too, and I also feel like showing the pitiful muddy shaking animals make people sad but probably doesn't inspire them to go adopt a dog.
I think happy rescues and rehabbed shelter dogs would make a much better ploy to get families to want a rescue.
From all accounts she's supposed to be full Rottie. Kev says if she is, she's the most hang-toothed little thing he's ever seen - looks like a Rottie crossed with a Ferret but she does have the wonderful temperment.
It'll be interesting to see how she changes when she's 100% healthy and well fed.
There is a shepherd in the neighborhood where I work. She is the tiniest little thing. If she was 45 pounds I would be very surprised. I would almost suspect some kind of dwarfism.
Even though she is tiny, she must be a good one. She is a guide dog
I know some pups (they came through the rescue I managed YEARS ago) that were purebred flat coat retrievers, papers and all (we also got sire/dam, so we know they were purebred) Pups had been neglected, and amongst other health issues they were so starved that they were totally stunted in growth. The biggest male finished out at 45lbs.
How old is that pup felt to be? She doesn't have the "mastiff" look of some Rottweilers at all.
She looks like a nice dog.
I can't imagine that the super territorial-guarding-monster type rottweilers would be do-able for a mill owner. Perhaps she'll have a lovely gentle temperament.
They originally felt the dogs were all under 6 months old, but haven't heard since she actually arrived in SF. I haven't asked recently.
She does have a very sweet temperment but is very soft. From all accounts it sounds like she'll make someone a wonderful family dog but don't know that she would ever have the drive as a working dog. She craves attention and is very willing to please, just didn't have any manners or know anything when she arrived. I know Kev has taken her out to various places and says she has been very easy to work with and in his words "was an absolute star" the day after she arrived. He continues to be amazed at her sweet nature. I have a hunch Kev's wife is going to fall in love with her (if she hasn't already) and spoil her rotten. Laurie has a very kind heart especially when it comes to situations like this. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this little girl has already found her "forever" home. If not, however, I know whatever home he finds for her will be wonderful.
She definitely has found a wonderful foster home with a great "big brother". It seems Gryffin is quite taken with her and dotes on her (as you can see from the picture) and she adores him. She is one lucky little girl.
