I'd just look at the wear on older pups from those parents and see how much wear they had, and if it was consistent with the expected amount of wear for the age and activities the dog had been engaged in.

Unfortunately, this is one of those things that you just can't predict in a first time breeding. So, it probably will effect future puppy decisions.
I'll probably want to see previous progeny from both the stud and the bitch, to look for things like soft teeth, allergies, etc.
Well, we can be pretty sure it's not on the sire's side, right? I mean, he's produced so many offspring, with great results. The dam is so striking though, too bad... Maybe it's just the combo of the 2 of them?

My dog does have a tendency to occasionally redirect when very highly spun up, got me in the leg a couple of times, so you wouldnt catch me sticking my face that close to mine under the same circimstances as your pix.
