Nick here.
I took him to the E vet last night. Heather and I watched the puppy video some more and Ed talked about diarrhea. We didn't have a normal thermometer to take his temp with so I decided to just take him in. I was getting fed up. I bought $122 of talking to the vet doc for 5 minutes and some pills. I've been so hard on my self because when all this started I think I ignored the little guy that tells us NO DON'T DO THAT!. I'd fed dogs before and I should of known better. Can't change the past.
I've been letting him fast today to rest his gut like Ed said. I'm thinking half the day because I've read a book I got from LB and it said puppys are to fast for half a day. My wife said at about 10 he still had diarrhea.

Nick, just remember that while the pup might be acting hungry, that feeding anything like kibble or too much of anything, including too much boiled chicken can act very irritating to the pup's intestines right now, resulting in increased irritation and more diarrhea.
Maybe re- read over Connie's important info she gave you in this thread, just so it all makes sense.
It is easy to get overwhelmed by everything, just stop and back up to get it all to sink in.
Did the pup receive sub Q fluids and was he given a anti-diarrheal medicine?

Good. Resting his gut is right, but with plenty of water, of course.
And then NOT throwing him a pile of treats or of kibble: this just re-starts the diarrhea. Soupy rice, as outlined, in frequent small meals.
If you could slow down here, it would go MUCH better. Just like in the SchH post . He needs the inflamed gut to settle down, become calm and not irritated and spasming, soothed with bland binding soupy rice.
The reintroduction of food is gradual, and doesn't even start until you see a formed poop.

Joyce said something I want to emphasize: "feeding anything like kibble or too much of anything, including too much boiled chicken can act very irritating to the pup's intestines right now, "
Boneless chicken is NOT a binding food. I add a little for palatability, and it's much better than a commercial treat for a pup recovering from diarrhea.
But the runs do not benefit from a lot of any muscle meat; skinless white chicken is nothing more than the best of the options. It is not contributing to the binding process; it's something to keep small right now.

We are going to feed him at 3pm. He should have been fasting for 15 hours by then. Enough?

No he was barley dehydrated. I'd been letting him drink all he wanted. He has a no spill bowl and I keep it in with him.
We got home at 2:30 from the vet and I put him up and slept by his pen. In the morning he woke me up needing to go outside at around 6 so I took him out and he peed. I came back in and laid down and he laid down too. HAHA something funny happened about 20 minutes ago! I had him tethered to me and I stopped by my sleeping bag and pillow.. He laid down and put his whole head on my pillow like a human. I think I've spoiled him a bit too much. arg lol

So, for the feeding, you are going to feed the overcooked soupy white rice, with just a very few tiny pieces of boiled chicken right? Remember very small amounts. Check back in and do not resume any kibbles or treats at this time.

Good. I am sure he is really hungry, but with these baby steps once we get his gut calmed down, we can proceed further.
It can be a catch 22 because you see the pup being hungry, we naturally think feed more, but when diarrhea starts it changes everything. Too much food given at one single feeding can do this, not to mention the change in kibbles and also the stress of coming to a new home, all these can create diarrhea in a pup.
So, it sounds like we have a good plan once we see some change in his stools, then we will give further instruction on what to do next.
Before you know it Nick, you will learn so much from being here at LB, you will be amazed.

Should I give him more in 2 hours? I wanted to take him to the park just to sit and watch and hopefully be petted by lots of people. "awww look at the cute puppy!"
(yeah he's cute but uhm watch your hands pls ! lol)
On another note I wish I hadn't missed the frequent part. I HAD been feeding him rice and chicken every 12 hours geeze!!
