Thanks Niomi! I would like to see it made into a movie too. Maybe the right person (someone who has the ability to make such things happen) will pick it up and feel the the same. Anything is possible
Tracey, this happened in rural Vermont in 1997. Nobody talked about 'that sort of thing' back then, and if you did you were thought of as a kook. I WISH it could have happened during a time when people were investigating such things and reporting on them. It would have been SO interesting to hear what they found! It probably would have been reassuring to us as well. For us, the experience was like a terrifying, shameful thing that we couldn't really talk about. It made things so much more difficult.

The emotion that ran through the book for me was one of frustration as well as terror - the reluctance of other people who were aware of the house and its history, to discuss and share previous phenomena must have compounded your determination to keep it between yourselves.
It was more like a prison than a house, and the fact you have come through the other side is a testament to your resilience and tenacity.

It's true, and thank you for saying so. I held it together for my daughter, but honestly if it weren't for my dogs I'm not sure I would have fared as well.
Sounds crazy, I know, but they were so often the "voice" of reason, and the first ones to let me know when I really did need to be concerned. They were the reason I could sleep at night.
And just like that, a non-dog post becomes about dogs

They are our salvation, they save our lives and our sanities everyday, and I don’t care what those cynics say about dogs having no emotional tie to their people, you only have to look into their eyes to know they understand us.
And you are definitely right about holding things together for your daughter, being a mother is like being in show business – you paint on a big old smile and keep the crap to yourself!

That's great! We had my two greyhounds and my sister's GSD living with us. Each of them seemed to have a "job" as it related to the haunting. They made the situation more bearable for sure
