How about someone asking how old your puppy is, then saying "They're so cute at that age. We have a Rottweiler too."
The "puppy" in question is a black and tan CHIHUAHUA.

Another case of mistaken identity: My friend was walking his Gordon Setter with me and my Pembroke Corgi. Someone asked if they were litter mates.

Good grief, is your Corgi at least a "tri" (not that Gordies even have white trim!) or was that marroon also color-blind ??? When my sons were pre-schoolers, people used to ask me if they were twins, so I always answered, "Yes, but my labor dragged on for three & a half YEARS" <:-O

Nope, he's a red and white! While we joke about them being brothers...we didn't think anyone would really think that! Good line about the labor dragging on!! Made me chuckle!

well, here's a good one, fresh in from this past weekend. we were staying in a lodge in a remote part of the state. our EM was out running around while we were loading up the car (in a fenced yard), and some yahoo comes up to me and asks if my dog is a neo (he looks nothing like a neo). when i reply that he's an EM, the guy gets all excited, says, "you ever heard of an EM crossed with a pitbull?"
i gave him a very cool stare and said i had. the he gets even more excited. "well, i've got a friend who just had the very first papered litter of the EM/pitbull breed."
"there is no such breed."
"oh, yes there is! it's a very rare breed."
"no, there isn't, and mutts are not rare."
"ok, be that way. i was going to give you a chance to get one of these puppies!"
i just ignored him after that. am i the only one who finds this kind of exchange scary? 1. the guy obviously doesn't know his breeds (thought an EM was a neo) 2. is breeding pitbulls to a giant breed and going around trying to sell them as papered purebreds. 3. is approaching a total stranger about acquiring a puppy in the parking lot of a backwoods lodge.
i don't even want to think about the kinds of hands these giant pitbull puppies will fall into.

My friend just told me a city employee in her town, appeared to be making rounds the other day. She was out in her yard, and the city truck stopped, and a man gets out and approaches her. He asked if she was at all interested in a pit/rottie mix pup, as his dog just had a litter!
Man o man...that's about parallel to the EM/Pit solicitation in a parking lot in a backwoods lodge, IMO.

I know I read something somewhere (and I should have kept it darnit) about Pit/Mal crosses being used as gaurd dogs with drug dealers and the like. The police were saying that they shoot first and ask questions later with those dogs. I think it may have been somewhere in California? I cannot imagine what the dogs were like but the statement gave me a vivid imagination about it. YIKES!!!!
