Now Melissa, you should know my style. I have never been one to mince words. If you read back at the original post, myself and others had we (myslef included) were being diplomatic, it was not until the heartless comment came out that I was a little miffed by. Then when the name calling came, it just got funny.

You and I had a disagreement and it never got that way, so I can be cordial.

We understand this must be hard for you.. it was for me too, I put a good 3 year old dog down last year for medical reasons, not because he needed to go, but because it was the right thing to do, we all love dogs here and want the very best for our friends, just like you, but sometimes be it bad breeders, medical problems whatever, there are more important things in life then taking care of a messed up dog that some idiot breed thinking he knew it all.

I don't need to stick up for Todd there, he does fine on his own, but his point of view is very very true, and to a good ethical breeder like him, hearing the pup came from a under year old bitch is just as heartbreaking as what you are going through. Furthermore he had to put it to you so you just migh hear what he is saying.. which you did but won't admit... who wants to admit they are wrong? I certianly don't like to.

I think you would have been very lucky to get a dog from Todd, you would not be in this situation if you had that's for sure, he probley would have made you give the pup back, and got you another, even at his own expense of breeding an extra litter for you, that's just the kind of guy he is.

That's a huge heart in my book....

And I agree with what you're saying. I'm just saying that maybe she didn't know when she bought the dog. If that's the case, she's already upset over the fact that the dog is sick, and may now be kicking herself for dealing with this breeder. Most of us don't have as much experience with dogs as you do, and unfortunately some of us will have to learn the hard way. And I'm sure Tammy won't make the same mistake next time around. Life is about lessons...and I can tell you that I'm a lifetime member of the School of Hard Knocks!

RE: Whose at fault? Well, I guess you could blame the "breeder" who bred the female dog at her "oh so obvious first heat". But also, without any name calling and please no hurt feelings, the new owner for which buying said puppy validates the "breeders" idea that he/she did something right. But we all learn from mistakes hopefully.

I have a friend that for years we debated the merits/minuses of various dogs and dog breeds and we both agreed we'd never buy a dog from a pet store, we'd never buy a small dog, etc. Well I got the best dog ever! And she bought a $400 small pet store dog (cock-a-poo) 5 years ago. While her dog does have a not bad personality, she is a little neurotic, has runny eyes, bad ears and a poor physique. She is also 3lbs overweight, which for a small dog is a lot.

What happened? She got SUCKERED! She made an emotional decision. She also didn't stand up for herself to get the dog SHE wanted. She does love her dog, but she SAYS she'll never do it that way again.

Melissa, I have certainly taken my hits from that school as well. As you know, I am about as hard headed as they come, so I need to get hit about 5 or six times before it sinks in.
