you just have to find a way to become more interesting the challenge we all face at times! A way to avoid it is to start to run away, making a big deal of it. He should chase after you if you encourage him to. get him away from the rocks, then get him to chase after a tug or toy that you put "life" into by wiggling it, etc. They like to chase after things that move.
Another thing is a marrow bone (for teething) or freezing ice cubes made from chicken broth, with a small piece of chicken or hamburger in the middle, stuff that he CAN chew on for those ouchy teeth.
When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.
He chased a stick today, too! We're making progress.
Maybe it just took getting his mind off the stones for a day or two, because I can see he's having a lot more fun outside now than he did just a few days ago. It was strange, because he's so playful inside, and so unplayful outside.
But now he runs around the yard with his cone or his stick, like a puppy should, and I feel a lot better. He also lets my retriever play with me inside now. He still interferes at times, and that's fine as long as we still get to play. Sometimes we even all play together.
My other rotties loved to play with shovels outside. When this one gets bigger he's going to inherit "The Shovel".
