Do you have an enclosed garage Connie? Frequently when I'm watching TV I see in the Southern States they have washer/dryers or extra refridgerators or freezers in the garage.
It would never work in Canada unless the garage is insulated and heated, but that could be an option, no?

So the drive cannot be as bad as I first thought. LMAO!!!
Yeah, the saltwater wreaks havoc on the motor.
London ONTARIO (pop: 350,000) is only about an hour from where I live and is between me and Jennifer.
I didn't even know you could get a freezer that is just 3.5'x3.5'x2'. I actually have a large, old, chest freezer that came with my house, I have never plugged it in but I never got rid of it just in case I start raw for my dogs (won't happen until my fosters find homes). I hope it actually works, lol.

You do the Around the Bay??? Good for you!
ATB is probably my favourite race! My brother came to watch last year w/Teagan and Luc, and he decided he'd like to do it. He's started running, I made him a program, and we're aiming to do it as a 2-person relay next March, since he's just starting out, and 15k is a lot easier to train for than 30k.
But it's so much fun! It has the best crowd support, and the midget playing 'we will rock you' is the best, I always high-five him for luck (after all, the grim reaper is just a few k away at that point )

Not where I am. Southern California, yes.
I'm near SF. Different climate from LA.

... My 18kg lasts us 5-6 weeks. So you'd be lucky to get 2 weeks out the same for 3 dogs.
Oh gosh. Two weeks would be heavenly for me!
I can go 8 days now.
Aaah The advantages of having a smallish Malinois eats less, poops less and much faster!
40 lbs in 8 days without a freezer Connie that's not bad. You have a few rescues right plus the GSD?
How my routine goes is I usually thaw out 2.5 days worth of stuff about 24 hours before the last meal. Throw my veggie mix, egg and salmon oil into a big round tupperware container and let it thaw in the fridge.
Every 5 weeks or so our supplier comes into town. So we have got it down to a science. It's a pretty funny scene all the Northern Breed breeders and sport people are there buying his product off the back off his truck in a parking lot. The fake dog food company reps would love to see that I bet! 30 vehicles all lined up buying real dog food off the back of a truck for a third of the price as the garbage in a bag that they advertise on TV.

20 pounds without a separate freezer lasts me 8 days. (115 pounds total dog weight.)
So if I could buy 40 pounds at a time, I could go two weeks PLUS. Teeny freezer would do it!

We set up a medium freezer and a small refrig in the garage. Our price break on the ground real stinky green trip in Nashville is at 200lbs. We get 50-75 per time, made to order per se, in 5 lb bags.
We do ensure that we rotate, with the chicken qtrs, etc. I am looking into a new buther for the chicken backs, as I want to start this puppy directly on raw.

thought i'd resurrect this to say that not only is the freezer great, but i was getting down enough in meat we went to the butchers at the market. they didn't have weights on the boxes of chicken backs, but it was $5/box, i got 2 boxes, and it'll last me around 12 days for sure, probably a bit longer.
and the meatiest chicken backs i've ever seen! the ones i'd get from the supermarket were paltry in comparison! the average size of a chicken back from the butcher was .785kg, or just over 1.7lbs! they rock!
also, as a really cool side note, toby got frustrated when he was trying to get luc to sit, so i told him to sit, which is what i usually do, and then toby said 'no, he sits for you! i want him to sit for me!'. so i got toby some treats and they did a little training session
