Now she has runny poop. I'm pretty sure it's from the antibiotics (clavamox). She has been on this for about 1.5 weeks, now.
She is supposed to be on the clavamox for three weeks. Based on what I have researched, the three weeks, although a long time, is necessary and some sites say even 4 weeks.
I am giving her yogurt.
Should I also give her pumpkin?
Should I put her on the mushy rich/cooked chicken?
She is still playful, happy and energetic, but the poop is dark brown and very little formed stuff in it and she will need to stay on antibiotic for another 1.5 weeks.
(I revived this thread rather than start a new one so all the info would be there. If the mods think it should be a new thread, just move it or let me know. Thanks.)

Just to warn you, no dairy products should be given a couple hours before or after dosing with Clavamox.

Lucy is on antibiotics for 20 days. Her poop is like cake icing squeezed out of tube...
I have been giving yogurt and probiotic, but I am now giving her apple sauce without sugar or salt. I hope this thickens up the poop, but I could be wrong. If it is wrong, chime in people! If its workable, then maybe Nora can try it?
Look! I DO fit in the bag. |

Applesauce? I have used Pumpkin in the past, but haven't heard of using applesauce.
I am curious to know if it works.

I have not kept up here and hope I am not stepping on my own toes; all I saw was this post immediately above.
The pectin in applesauce is okay as a "firmer," but IME not even close to pumpkin, which also has both kinds of fiber (pectin is a soluble fiber). I am guessing that the superiority of pumpkin's action is related to being denser in both fibers and lower in sugar, but I don't know that. In fact, the "betterness" of pumpkin is only MHO, too.
How runny is the poop? Pudding or water?

Gotcha. Back later. Applesauce is also very high in natural sugar. I need to check pumpkin again, but if memory serves, the apple numbers I just looked up make it 9 times sweeter.
That alone crosses it off my diarrhea-dog list.
But I will re-check later.

Thanks, Connie.
Now for the hard part. Getting her to eat it.
I mixed in some of last night's leftover meatloaf and she tried really hard to just pick out the meatloaf. She got a little bit of the pumpkin and finally gave up.
I'm sure it won't hurt her to miss a meal, I just don't know if she should with the pudding poop.
Any suggestions getting her to eat the pumpkin?
Thanks.

Mine all really like pumpkin, especially if its mixed with yogurt, even my picky eater likes it.
Could you mix it up with some raw ground hamburger or chicken?
