I have a seperate list for small dogs, even though corgi made my top four.
dacshund-I've always wanted one , but have been scared off by the reports of so many problems with their backs
Silkie
Lhasa
mini Schnauzer
I too am a big dog perosn. I also like my cats big. My friendhas a really small long haired Chi. I would be afraid of crushing a dog that small. I always step on my big ones.
1. Bull Mastiff
2. French Brittany
3. Golden Retriever field working lines
4. Boxer (brindle)
Hubby wants a bull mastiff something fierce. Wants to name is Scooby. lol I give up, now that there are no weight restrictions where we live I just have to find out how they are with kids.
My list as it currently stands:
1. Australian Cattle Dog
2. German Shepherd
3. Random Collie, Shepherdy or Retrievery Rescue Mutt
4. Something big, somewhat low-key, and possibly slobbery. I really like Livestock Guardians, but I hope I have enough sense to realize that I'd better own the farm first. Danes, Saints, Newfs, the various Swiss Mountain types, and maybe even Greyhounds would also be included, though.
There's something about BIG huggable dogs that really calms my soul.
Small Dog (just in case I can't work on the REAL list; I've lived in apartments too long to take it for granted)
1. Cardigan Corgi
2. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
3. Shelti
4. Papillon
Almost all of the collie-descended breeds have been in my top 1 or 2 at one time or another and will always be dear to my heart and I really like the look of wire-haired dogs, so some smallish terriers, Bouviers, and Laekenois make it on my honorable mention list as well.
oh, and my husband has expressed interest in huskies and retrievers...
I'm interested enough in breeding that I know I'm going to try it someday... How I'm ever going to pick one breed is beyond my current powers to know.
If I ever lose my sanity I just know I'm going to end up being a collector, ugh.
1. Doberman 2. Dutch shepherd 3. Alsations (the old type with short coats and front and back legs the same size) 4. Rajapalayam
I like breeds that are aloof with strangers with a natural guarding instincts. But If I get to choose a neighbour or a friend who can have 4 more breeds of dogs for my playing then
1. Golden retriever 2. Labrador 3. Boston terrier 4. King charles spaniel
