Go big or go home right! I like the way you think tracey!
If money was not an issue I did not have to work would want quite a few dog and want to work them in the area that they were breed for. A german short hair pointer that I would learn to do hunting stuff with, a Australian Cattle dog and a McNab to do herding with, a malinois to learn protection sports with, a bull mastiff and african boerboel to look scary to intruders, an akbash to guard the sheep, a whippet for lure coursing, a Rottweiler and pug to keep my sense of humor, a pitbull to sleep with at night. I really love most dog for what they are and why they were created and never want to stop learning about training. The only breed I really would say I do not like would be a Doxie, then I meet Andrew's and she is great! So it gives me hope for them too.
I always say ok my next dog will be a ( insert dog breed). Then I end up at the shelter taking something home that has the temperament I want regardless of the vessel it comes in. I have been looking at ACD breeder and sure enough yesterday the shelter had 10 puppies from different litters and three nice adults. It is fun to dream!
Oh, I almost for got a border terrier only if she is as great as Cindy's stella
Tracey, when you win and you start putting together your dream, would you think of me? I am more than willing to work grooming the dogs/horses, cleaning the house, mowing, tending the sheep, etc.....
I will pay for you to bring your dog/s, (well we are day dreaming, so lets imagine you have fullfilled your wish here!) and pay you an OBSCENE amount of money to be the household co-ordinator; you will have absolute authority with the staff and will have your own #2 to take the pressure off you so you can concentrate on the smooth running of the operation, after all, this place is gonna be mahoosive and you will need an assistant
Then at Christmas and Hogmanay, we will charter a Jumbo Jet and bring anyone and their dogs from LB who would like to come over for a few weeks, (quarantine rules won't apply of course!) and the ghillies will organize various activities for those that would like to hunt/shoot/fish scottish style!
All I need now is the lottery win and we will get started
Other than a dutchie:
1. Black sable working GSD
1.5 16 Dutchie/husky crosses for sledding LOL
2. Large Munsterlander
3. Flat-Coated Retriever
4. Beauceron
5. Brussels Griffon
6. Sm Fox Terrier
7. apricot Maltie-poo (don't laugh, I used to know a REALLY nice one)
8. Something wolfy looking
9. heinz 57 (last because an alternate to all of the above)
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Since I'll be in my 70s when my GSDs are ready to hit the bridge I'll more then likely go with a small terrier...again. Something that can be in the house and not shed a new animal all the time. That's the reason the GSDs are outside 24/7.
I've had 4-5 different terrier breeds and I my fav was the Border.
I do love my GSDs though!
