I agree that the various foundation training among the dogs will place some on levels closer to the desired behavior. I also wanted to add that members have dogs of different ages and levels of stamina, strength, and physical flexibility. I know we don't ever want to exclude the seniors who may have arthritis or even just general stiffness.
The idea that Betty and Kiersten have joint-presented might be nice ..... "We could have a broad category of "scent discrimination" or .... {place} recognition (home)... very broad .....these broad categories would open up the door to finding and retrieving an object, going to a place and staying there, indicating an object, word recognition type games, etc. "
How do others feel about this?
It almost seems to me that a category this broad would encompass just about any command anyone might want to train. :-)
I kinda like the idea. It gives us a starting point and a chance to see different approaches but also allows plenty of freedom to be creative/customize for our dog and situation.
Love This new methodology! it gives a lot of freedom and some cues we can work on! and i just love the idea of just seeing other persons and their dogs working on the same thing!
It would be pretty cool if you could teach your dog to play Twister! (do people even have that game around anymore?). That incorporates a bundle of tricks all at once. That would be a silly (and pointless) dog party game.
Funny, Kiersten, I was thinking of Twister yesterday. Yes, we play the game with the preschool all the time. We have painted the game on grass too, it accommodates more players. I was thinking it would be cool to try it with two dogs. Search for Twister on grass.
I think i'll be working with a senior dog , we'll try anything.

Me too!
I could toss in a senior deaf Pug, too (fawn or black .... I have one of each), but not as part of the competition.
