I got there and the breeder had decided not to save back any of the pups. The little guy I was interested in they had kept back because they knew I was coming by. They were still willing to keep him with mom and dad for a few weeks but he would be kind of isolated in the puppy pen they have. I decided to just bring him home. It's not an ideal situation but I think we'll be alright. He just turned 6 weeks old. Saying good bye to a full nights sleep for awhile.
Best of luck with the new guy! FWIW, the best thing I started teaching my pup at that age was how to settle both in my arms and in a crate. Sooo very nice to have an active, drivey teenager who will "chill" (relax in my lap) on command in a variety of scenarios where he could be bouncing off the wall!
Congrats on the new pup. Can't wait to see some pictures. I'll have to live vicariously through you on this. I'm getting too old to raise any more puppies. Sounds like you're in for a fun ride.
He's currently throwing a fit in his crate but he was falling asleep in my lap so I figure he'll settle down quick. He had one potty accident in the crate on the way home but I've been able to get him out in time for everything since then.
Tanner is being perfect. Slightly curious but not overly excited. I'm keeping our routine as normal as possible for him.
Cattle dogs are the cutest pups ever! Nothing beats a ACD in puppy cuteness! Congratulations are your new addition - you're gonna have fun. As for names...please just stay away from Blue ;-)
