And there are no liability factors, and you won't get kicked out for using a firearm? That same idiot in the dog park is carrying a gun!
At least in this country there is a RIGHT to bear arms granted to every citizen. However you feel about the setting that right is legal in all public parks. So, no greater liability exists for that than any other public place outside of school "gun free" zones. I'm a big fan of open carry myself. When it's your private park feel free to set your own rules.
But that's the point Aaron. He walked willingly into a what arguably was a very risky situation.
Rather like buying a house on the fairway of a golf course and then complaining because golf balls come flying through the windows.
I'm not going to defend anyone that knowingly walks into a such a risky situation, then takes the most drastic measures possible thereby relieving them of their responsibility in the whole affair.
Oh, I agree, he was stupid.
I won't say he was wrong to take his dog to a dog park- it may well be the only way he had to work his dog under distraction.
I will say he was a total moron for not bringing a less lethal means of breaking up a dog fight.
The guy's career is likely already over if the allegations that the dog was shot with a hollow point round are true, and said round was fired from his duty weapon.

Unless you're in Seattle.
In which case, Nichols will eat your brain for even thinking about a gun in a public park.
