I've been following and so glad you've found homes for so many!!
Connie - I used to foster for a pug rescue, and wow, don't they get the short end of the stick!?! Frenchies too. Not that there aren't discarded dogs everywhere, but it seems like pugs get shuffled around a lot!
It must have felt good to work in a place like this...and I agree that it's a shame that there aren't more rescues/shelters that can house animals in this way...
EVERYONE has found homes!!!! Even SAKI, who we were ready to euthanize. Saki is going to live with a volunteer, (who already has 6 FurryTale dogs!) for however long he has left. The remaining pigs go to a local home on Monday, and the owner moves on Tuesday.
It will be a very sad day, but the good news is that the FurryTale Farm has saved thousands of animals over the years. Some who only wanted to be loved, as well as some very severe neglect cases with dogs, horses, and even a starving goat with a udder full of cancer.
I'm going out tomorrow afternoon (after dog training ) to say my final goodbyes to the farm. It'll be tough. Only 4 pigs and 2 dogs living there right now.... on a farm that once housed 14 horses, 5 goats, over 30 dogs, 6ish cats, and various other farm critters.
It must have been extremely hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful, inspiring place, but I am THRILLED to hear that you found homes for each one of those sweet creatures... that was the best case scenario, and you achieved it. Congrats to everyone that had a hand, far and wide, in placing each animal in a loving new home, and best wishes to the critters - may they carry out the rest of their lives in peace and health.
Kelly, What absolutely wonderful news!! You found homes for everyone, even the ol' frosty muzzle... there is nothing more which could have been done! What a wonderful ending to a rewarding and challenging time. I love happy endings.
We've had one of our 'kids' re-surface for a new home.
Jackson is a 1ish yr old Kelpie.... something..... maybe.... mix. He's about 40lbs, black and tan, and a cutie.
He's been 'officially' diagnosed with "Social Dominance Aggression" by a behaviorist. AKA: not living in a home with good (any) pack structure. Jackson now needs a new home, again. Jackson has shown me that he is good with kids (mine, under supervision) but he HAS bit people. I would not suggest him as a candidate for a home with cats, unless it's a very dog savvy kitty.
Anyone in the Pacific Northwest looking for an adorable little high-drive guy to join the family?
