I don't own or breed Malinois but know that eventually I will go to the "dark side" and get a mali one day :-)
I think it all depends on what you are looking for in you mali as to what breeders there are out there. LDS and Ot Vitosha are probably the most well known breeders of malinois for sport dogs in the USA. I have spent a good amount of time around dogs from both kennels and both have produced nice dogs.
Personally, when I go looking for a malinois it will in all likelihood be an LDS dog. I know Michael Ellis and thinks he spends good amount of time ensuring that the right dog goes to the right home. Not only that but I absolutely LOVE his male Pi. He is exactly what I need. Social with people, good with other dogs, and drivey for the work.
Are there are less well known breeders out there producing quality dogs? Absolutely! The best advice I always give when searching for a new dog is to go and meet the breeders and meet their dogs. I find that this will help a prospective new owner into finding the right kennel/breeder for their needs.
One thing that I have learned in my years of doing dog activities is there are plenty of kennels on the web that look great but that are actually trainwrecks in reality. I think back to when I first got into ACDs and I almost got a puppy from a kennel on the web that had a nice website, the breeder was active in the breed club, and was well known. Thank goodness that the litter did not take for I know now that this breeder does not socialize her puppies worth a damn.
I've met Qain and had the shivers. He is a heavy hitter on the schutzhund field and cross trained in body suit work. extreme drive and sociable. I have heard good things about Brigita's placement and socialization.
I don impot and don hav a breadding programm and such; I buy impoted Malanois sow I don have to worry bout regestration papiers dat saiz Malanois cozing ne confoosin.
