Even a BB gun (out your window) well timed would do a bunch to keep him from roaming. All dogs are terrified of the "pop" and remote correction. That way, you would not get into trouble and you wouldn't have to feel guilty after shooting.
I have used a paintball gun on a frequent yard visitor who's owners didn't get it. If you get a good shot, the owners will also see that someone is not happy Makes for a pretty pup too!
No I never heard anything back. It really pisses me off to be honest. The only excuse I can come up for them with is that they might have possibly gone to the same address but down the road about 6 miles in the not friendly part of town.

Yeah, totally agree with Bob and Victor and I don't say that flippantly...my future daughter-in-law recently had to shoot a dog coming at her while on someone's property and she was pretty devastated by it. Of course to make matters worse the owner then started to get up in her face -this isn't really surprising because these are the kinds of people that have dogs like this.
But Jennifer -why can't animal control or the appropriate authorities give you a simple update on the status of this dog?? You were the reporting party and this is a public safety case -I don't understand...
As far as I know there was never a report made, no one from animal control or the police ever showed up. I did however fill out a report online through the TPD website as well as writing a letter to my city councilman.
We do not have a city manager, just a useless mayor. If I see the dog out again I will not only be calling Animal control but also the chief of Police.
So animal control never did show up but I filed a paper police report to have it documented.
Yesterday my mom took my son to the dentist and then had to call me from the driveway because that dog was loose.
My husband was home and went outside with the baseball bat and I went to her car, we could see the dog across the street and the broken gate. Well I got on the phone to animal control and while I was on hold the owner came and leashed him up and put him in his car.
Mamma bear mode kicked in and I marched over and waved the guy towards me. I wasn't irate but I made it clear I was unhappy what had happened before and that it was a dangerous situation. That their were kids all around and many who walked right by his house every afternoon.
I made sure to tell him I wasn't worried because the dog was a pit, but because he actually did try to attack me.
He was very young, and very apologetic and looked truly upset that dog might have bit me. He said he used to be really friendly with the neighbors and would visit with them at his old house and he didn't know why he was being aggressive now. (so the dog is a known escape artist) He also said the dog broke the back window and the gate and the landlord was supposed to be fixing it today.
I am not normally a confrontational person, but having my mom and son stuck in a car because of this dog just sent me right over the edge.
