I was recently reading a "summer beverage" thread, and boy, do dog people have their adult beverages down cold ( ..... "cold" .... get it?).
Last month I had my first try of a drink I had heard about a lot but never tasted: a Moscow Mule.
The bartender at this terrific restaurant had little recipe cards: "Two parts vodka, one part fresh lime juice, 3 parts ginger beer."
Squeeze lime into Tom Collins glass (and throw in the lime half), add big ice cubes, add the vodka, and fill with ice-cold ginger beer. Stir.
What a great summer drink! The ginger beer was all-important, and it turned out they run across the street from this excellent restaurant to Trader Joe's for their Reed's ginger beer.
Bay of Fundy child here.. give me your scallops, your mussels, your clams and your lobsters. Gosh I miss good fresh seafood. Who needs butter when it's that fresh, really?
Warm summer Sunday on the patio in the late afternoon, a kick-butt blender that finally works well crushing ice, and a perfect batch of frozen, custom adapted Mudslides. Our mudslides are one shot each of Rum (instead of the required Vodka), Baileys, and Kahlua, a scoop of ice cream, a squirt of chocolate syrup, and crushed ice. Before serving, fill up the straw to the top with more Kahlua. Great to sit and enjoy while grilling.
Unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk, almond butter or PB, chocolate powder (preferably raw), frozen berries, xylitol or honey to sweeten or a little bit of orange juice better yet and a pinch or more of cayenne. You can always add vodka
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
If you use xylitol - DON'T LET YOUR DOG GET A DRINK OF IT!!! Xylitol is incredibly toxic to dogs, far more so than antifreeze and a heck of a lot quicker! And my thinking is, if it can kill my dog, it's probably not that great for me either!
