Does this mean you know your sh*t? Or does it mean your sh*t don't stink? LMAO!
Seriously, the matchstick thing is about the sulfur irritating/stimulating the walls of the intestine. Shoving your finger up your dog's a$$ will pbly not produce the effect you desire (but do post a video!).

Hee, hee, Joe, I agree.
It's all good sh*t in the long run though, provided, of course, you like long running sh*t.
And April, I do agree with you to a certain extent. My dogs all have their idiosyncrasies as well where poop in concerned.
My husky loves tall grass, two don’t care for hard surfaces, one, anywhere, anytime.
These are their preferences though and I do try to accommodate as much as possible but they're not to a point where they're going to hold it for days on end to get their way.
This dog will poop in his kennel, on the road, on other dog's poop, in the neighbor's yard, anywhere but where she wants him too.
Personally, if it were my dog, this sh*t’s gotta stop... or start, depending on how you look at it.

"It's all good sh*t in the long run though" had me rollin CJ
Zoey won't poop in the back yard and the other weekend she wouldn't even pee in the front I had to take her down the street a few hundred feet, I think it's something to do with the raccoons?
And Troy the GS I take out on weekend for my friend Rick the Vietnam Vet, this dog only poops in the vines off the side of the walkway he's never gone in the grass?
It's possible were all full of sh*t and some might be tired of this sh*t but that's coming from a guy who's into all kinds of sh*t.

You guys are all too funny.
The dog I'm speaking of I had to end the issue, filthing a search area or a track is not good, and he was doing the same thing basically, being so picky that he held and held till he could just not anymore. So the work got things 'going' and it just happened. He had also failed obedience tests over it having to stop to go mid test. It's the sh*ts when you have this issue with your dog.....
Reading the matchstick thread most of them say they use just the wood end not the sulpher end, or even just any thin stick or thick grass so I gather it's not about the sulpher at all. I don't have the issue with my current dog so I'll leave the research on that (and the video performance) to others, but thanks for the stardom offer! lol
Ukas was my first working dog, and you could say it was a sh*tty start for me, but once we worked through that part it was all good.
One thing I forgot to mention, another suggestion given to me was to take myself out of the picture in case he was shy. I put a tie line in the area of 'the spot' and left him alone for the time period, for Ukas this did not work, but that's not to say others should not try it.
Have a great day!
April

Wow a bunch of sh*t has gone down since I was last here with you guys.
Last night, Logan gave me a warning signal....I said holy Sh*t!!! Way to go! I was riding along and he got real close to me almost touching me and licked....so I said over right and immediately woa and stopped. He whined and wanted to go to the grass I said nope, come on....pause rewind replay, he whined and I said go poopy and he did. Safely on the curb!
I'm also working on the bark command, for some reason he seems confused that if barking at me is ok then he can bite me. *sigh* He needs to get off of that sh*t.
As for the pooping in the yard, I haven't done the matches yet though it seems to be the only way. Turning around and not finishing a walk would mean he would annoy me while working. Cant have that sh*t.

It is not the only way...but as stated it would take a great effort of time on your part if you seriously wanted to work on it. Most things in life are NOT easy.
As for bothering you....crate the dog...in another room. Problem resolved.

That would be perfect if I could...i don't have a way to crate him in another room. I can't take him indoors accept my art studio, one room and i'm not the only one in there either. Oh well.

In my view, regarding kitchen matches, it is the sulfur end, which is blunt and rounded.
