Just a side note on this discussion. Prednisone, when given to a human, can creat a form of insulin shock when given for even a short period of time and gone off of cold turkey. I don't know it this would be the same result with a dog. I do know, first hand, that it can create stomach bleeding in dogs. It almost killed one of my daughters dogs.
Hi and thanks for asking : - } Chaos is doing wonderfully. His hot spots are gone now and his hair is already growing back nicely. I took him to see his groomer/girlfriend! and she said it should be back in time for a good grooming the week of Nov. 12th. so I can show him that weekend. She said if it's not totally grown back, we can work something out with it! But he is feeling soooo much better and not itching any more like he was. I hope with the new food change and all of the other stuff that I'm doing for him, they won't come back! Wish us luck.
Shouldn't use Frontline more then directed especially if you don't even know if he has fleas, and on top of that flea shampoo!! These are pesticides your putting on your dog and are toxic. If anything you are irritating his skin even more and making the problem worse. Look into a natural diet and don't rush. Non pasturized apple cider vinegar with "mother" is a natural remedy i've used with results regarding hot spots and many other things it's cheap and doesn't harm your dog immune system. Here is the adresse http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/acvfordogs.html Please check it out.

Good food and Omega 3 essential fatty acids (plus Vitamin E)..... that's a combination that will help so many chronic maladies. Even better is that good food will PREVENT so many chronic problems!
Good news, and I'm so glad your dog is better. A constant itch is pure misery.
