Wendy: we are definitely looking into that. Linda Shaw (among others) is helping to evaluate her movement and possible causes for the situation. Not having that rudder back there could definitely be causing her to adjust her movement.
Real time video... I'm going to have to add a techie to team Fama LOL. I will definitely post video and pics, plus a written account of our reunion.
It's funny Connie, I have got many messages from people saying that they can't believe that the dog in the pics is Fama
I have to remember that the parts of our story where we work extensively on social behaviors and thresholds haven't been seen by the public. They just know her as the attitudinal bitch. She's come a long way, and I was very happy to get Kat's report on her demeanor and social behavior. She allowed quite a bit of handling and invasion of her bubble with no aggression or tension at all. Fama did test her with her ball once, holding Kat's hand in her mouth while it was wrapped around the ball, but she never bit hard and let go calmly after Kat waited her out for a few seconds.
I think it's cool to see the lighter side of Fama, and will continue this trend in the later chapters of the story.
Her bunny hop/butt reminds me of aussies. Looks like she's tucking more without her tail. I'm sure it's a compensation for no longer having a tail. It must feel really weird not having that wavy thing back there for her. I missed the story of how she lost her tail...what happened?
Also nice to hear that she's mellowing in her age. I've noticed a considerable change in Enzo's attitude/aggression to. I'm contributing it to socialization and his ability to trust more. He no longer has the me or them/I'll get you before you get me attitude. Maybe Fama is feeling the same way It will be nice to hear your update upon reunification.
I went and picked Fama up at Ft Bragg on the 18th. I haven't posted about it because I'm in the middle of moving to Oklahoma.
I didn't have a chance to get any video or pictures of our reunion. It was spur of the moment. The kennel staff took me into the vet clinic, where I assumed that we were going to speak to the vet about her condition, and there was Fama, muzzled up in the office with the tech trying to cut her toenails.
As soon as she saw me she pulled out of her handler's grip and tackled me, licking me all over my face out the end of the web muzzle. It was pretty overwhelming I definitely had some dog hair get in my eyes.
I got home about midnight and didn't have the energy to do my normal introduction routine, so I just muzzled her up and walked in the house with her. Everybody did great. She pushed through the 2 dogs waiting at the door and checked the place out. Butt sniffs for everyone. No aggression. Pam was amazed when Fama came right up with soft ears and eyes and rubbed up against her like a cat, wanting petted. She and Pam are great buddies now. Fama slept with Pam last night
Fama is doing GREAT!! I have her on supplements and some good food and she's adjusting well. We have been doing retrieves in a pool for 30 minutes twice a day, plus 4 miles of walking on a long line in 2 sessions a day.
She was on Rimadyl and Gabapentin when I picked her up and I stopped the Rimadyl right away. I see no indication that she is in pain at all. She is moving, sitting, standing and pooping like normal.
We're currently living in a hotel in Oklahoma with Fama and Lucian waiting for a house to come available. Times are super busy so I can't update often. I'll check in when I can!

Good luck with your move, David. I hope things settle down to normal soon.
