Does anybody know the most effective way to teach "Trail" ?That is, were the dog while heeling is told to "trail" and he starts to walk behind you at your six o clock. I thought about targeting with treats but like to hear some other ideas
I don't know if this is the accepted method, but I did it by going through openings that were to narrow for him to heel through and I would move over so he had to stay back and then I said follow and treated. He will now follow when I ask him to.
