This is a really silly post, but I don't know what to do.
My pups pads are sore and both rear outer toe pads are grazed and keep bleeding. My gardens are paved which I know is the cause but we only have to play fetch to start them bleeding. Is there anything I can do to toughen them up?
Grassing the areas is not an option (my 2 terriers would have a field day Is this because he's so big and heavy on them? It must be! I've restricted him until they've healed and then they start up again the minute he goes out and has a charge round. Anyone any ideas?
BTW I don't think he would keep any kind of socks on being a 4 month old 'grab and chew anything'
I've been walking my 2-yr-old GSD almost every day for 2-3 mi. and most of that is on sidewalks and asphalt streets. After a couple months, she started limping for a few steps now and then on asphalt (the street's not clean in some places) and now pulls to get to the sidewalk whenever I try to go on asphalt. Her pads looked o.k. to me.
Did a search here and found some posts where people mentioned Tuf-Foot so I ordered a bottle. Have only had it less than a week. It says apply daily for about a week and then just once a week after that. Check it out: Tuf-Foot
Thankyou so much Mike- I didn't even know these kind of products existed for dogs- knew for horses.

What do you call the little 'pads' on the back of the front legs, behind the 'wrist' joint?
Our Mal x frequently scuffs them, making 'em sore/bleed. Then of course she licks them raw and has to wear the 'lampshade' for a few days, until they heal
Any advice on preventing this would be welcomed.
Same as for the foot pads?
