I have a 14 wk old Beagle that I am housebreaking. He is being crate trained and is doing fairly well with me, however he is not doing so well with my boyfriend. So far the dog has had only one accident in the house with me for the last 3 days and it was my fault b/c I didn't let him out as scheduled. But with my boyfriend he is peeing and pooping in the house constantly (the dog, not the boyfriend!) How do I fix this??? Do I simply have my boyfriend keep the dog kennelled until I get home?? But how will that teach the dog?? Does anyone have any suggetions??
I believe that there's an article on housebreaking written by Ed that you could print out for your boyfriend. Since the pup is doing well for you and not the bf, my feeling is that your bf is not being consistent, is not taking the puppy out often enough, is giving him free access to food and/or water, or is giving the pup too much freedom. You could write up a schedule for your boyfriend and tape it to the fridge or wherever he'd be sure to read and follow it.
