Carlo,
I read it, but it didn't seem like anyone was actually making a point there.......
Someone on that forum asked about mastiff breds in ASR, one qualified in the trial this weekend for Entry level, and I've commented on the CC's that have actually gained SchH titles.
An American Bulldog or two have also trialed to title with a skilled handler, so it can be done, but the sport, like all the other Reality -based protection sports is totally dominated by Mal's.
Thanks.....I posted on here about the Corso in ASR and asked the question about ASR Mastiffs on that pro-sports board. As far as I know, not to many mastiffs work in ASR
I don't really see that much of a point to the person's article. I'm sorry, but if I wanted a good solid working dog, I'd pick a dog that has a hard bite, is stable in temperament, and is quick and agile...as opposed to merely 100+ lbs of brute force.
isn't it all about what a person, as an individual, wants in their dog? given that some people want "the look", and that is all that's necessary.
and some people want (and need) the performance?
what i see in these discussions is 1)people aren't realistic about what what they "want" vs what they "need"
2)and they want to fight about 2 different things, ie, the vastly differing abilities of different breeds of dogs that are not genetically hard-wired to do the "same thing" (Sch) to test their vastly differing genetic "jobs".
it's a waste of time on this forum, to me. i'm done
no, no , no, deanna--i see why you misunderstood what i said when i re-read it.
i meant the discussion. i'm sticking around, i have so much to learn it's not even funny it just seemed to me like another one of those "merry-go-round" discussions. i start reading them hoping to learn something, but end up disgusted. mostly i just go on, but i lost control...
