Hi Janet... Was this pup eating kibble before you got it? If so, this may just be part of the usual detox process. My pup had this happen after he had lived with me for about a week, I assume from diet change. I just cleaned them out and the waxy residue has not returned. If there is a foul smell or redness I would go to your vet so they can take a swab to check for yeast and look for mites.
Yes, she was eating kibble before I got her, but that's been 3 weeks ago. They do get red sometimes so I'll call the vet in the morning. How do dogs that are inside most of the time get mites?
Janet : as said before it might be food related ? but any didscharge from the ear is abnormal and should be checked out for mites ,or otitis , <canker> and have the vet do it. just because the dogs are in the house they do go outside and can pick up many things. Puppies are little magnets . Peter
